Gizmo: To Heal Us

_{I am ridiculously proud of this thing. Just puttin' that out there.} First drawing that I have colored in with my brand-spankin'-new (pardon my french) tablet, and I think, for someone who does not have the slightest notion of lighting or layers, this turned out pretty nicely. I tried to get a bit of that ethereal cosmos feel that is in some of Evayo's Infinite 9 arts. I don't think it really worked, but I like it.

My original idea was this whole epic thingy for Fin, buuut...it didn't really work out. Then I remembered how Evayo said that a lot of Infinite 9 is gonna be interactions between the characters.

So, basically, the premise of this picture is that Infinity went up to the top of their bus city thing, 'cause he couldn't sleep, because of the dreams he's getting. Gizmo, through some ESP powers of his, discovers Fin's absence from his bed and figures, "Why, of course he must be on the roof!" So he goes up there, and gives Fin moral support. /endcrazysummary

I think that Gizmo's tagline - To Heal Us - has a bit of a double meaning. First, there's the obvious one -- healing, as in fixing wounds, and suchlike. He's clearly some sort of doctor -- I heard somewhere (I believe on the I9 character thread) that Gizmo's funny right eye is some sort of microscope that's a family heirloom or whatnot. He's got that button headband that looks like one of those doctor things, and his little backpack has needles in it, and a red cross thingy on the strap. Heck, his outfit looks like a really, really dapper doctor coat.

But I think his purpose goes a bit deeper than that. Healing doesn't just pertain to physical wounds; it applies to emotional and mental wounds, as well. I think that Gizmo is going to be (for lack of a better term) the "team mom" of sorts, the one that they go to for support. He seems very carefree, happy, and fun loving, but at the same time very purposeful and grounded -- not the type to be moody or unstable. Infinity, in particular, seems to be a character with a lot of issues, and I'm guessing that those issues are not exactly self-imposed. He seems pretty sweet, but he also seems like he needs a lot of support to do whatever he needs to do. And I think that Gizmo will be there to support him, and the rest of the people in his group.

But of course, this is pure speculation. I hope you like this, Evayo!
